The Upper West Side is prewar romance with a relaxed, bookish temperament. Layouts on Central Park West, Riverside Drive, and West End Avenue come with long entry halls, arched openings, and rooms that were never quite meant for open-plan living — so we plan carefully: enlarge kitchens where the building allows, reclaim maid's rooms as studies, and keep the moldings, radiator covers, and casement windows that give these apartments their character.
Palettes here run warmer and softer than downtown — parchment, camel, moss, and clay, with antique rugs, painted millwork, deep bookshelves, and reading light in every seat. Families are the majority of our work in this neighborhood, so plans account for strollers, instruments, homework, and Sunday-afternoon crowds.
We also design brownstone parlors, garden levels, and rental floors, coordinating landmark-sensitive exterior details where required.
